Tunica 10 Point Coalition, Inc. is a 501 ©3 organization that has been in existence since 2004 and was organized exclusively for charitable, scientific and educational purposes.

 

Our mission is to help provide a strategic vision, programmatic structure and financial resources necessary to save at risk youth and their families from the ravages of destructive behavior. Through strategic collaboration and coordinated efforts we endeavor to rid our communities of child abuse and neglect, street violence, teen pregnancy, school failure, truancy, incarceration, chronic health and wellness issues, spiritual depravity and hopelessness about the future. This organization focuses its effort on serving as a conduit to mobilize the community around issues to help families as well as other organizations within Tunica County. The efforts include but are not limited to the following:

 (1) Develop youth sponsored programs in the faith and community based area

 (2) Serve as mediator to the courts and schools

 (3) Serve as mentors/street workers to prevent delinquency

 (4) Provide economic assistance opportunities  

 (5) Build relationships between organizations within Tunica County to work together to make a difference

 (6) Initiate and support school and community crime watch

 (7) Develop partnerships with community recreation centers to provide services to youths and adults

       * Provide health and wellness opportunities through funding from the Community Foundation

 (8) Partner with brother and sisterhood programs as an alternative to violence

       * Work with other non-profit organizations in Tunica County

 (9) Offer services for domestic violence in prevention and intervention

 (10)  Assist youth with literacy skills that enhance reading, math, comprehension and promote self-esteem

 

It is through these coordinated efforts that assistance is provided to offer programs to improve the overall well-being of youth and their families.  Programs and Services provide health and wellness programing and outreach services to citizens within Tunica County to include but not limited to:

 

 (1) Community Housing Initiative (Hypertension Screening)

 (2) Delta Area Congregational Health (Hypertension Screening)

 (3) Brothers/Barbershop (Hypertension Screening)

 (4) Mayoral Health Council/Tunica County Health Council

 (5) Clinical Health Worker Initiative – (Tunica Healthcare Authority)

 (6) Diabetes Education Program 

 (7) Summer and Afterschool Feeding Program – Boys & Girls Clubs of the MS Delta

 (8) Community Food Distribution Program

 (9) Community Farmers Market – Community Garden Project

Tunica 10 Point Coalition, Inc, serves as a catalyst for positive change. Our vision is to collaborate with various organizations and agencies to help eliminate health disparities  throughout the Mississippi Delta.  Since being established in 2005,  Tunica 10 Point Coalition has focused on its founding principles to holistically address social determinants of health and create ways to support, empower and improve the quality of life for all people

In 2020 Tunica 10 Point Coalition, Inc. opened a Community Health & Wellness HUB under the auspices of Mississippi State Department of Health.  The HUB is comprised of six (6) components and includes the following:  Housing, DACH, Barbershops, Clinical, Community, Mayor's Health Council. The main focus of the various components are Hypertension and Diabetes Prevention and Intervention. The Health & Wellness HUB is located at 1165 Abbay Drive, Tunica, Mississippi.
